The art of connecting people and technology

The art of connecting humans and technology

An inspiring portrait of Sophie, Continuous Improvement Manager at OVHcloud. From her passion for foreign languages to her discovery of IT, she shows how curiosity, listening, and empathy are major strengths for succeeding in the digital world.

Timeline

Chronological journey

Keeping all doors open

Keeping all doors open

Sophie chose a general engineering school by process of elimination, so as not to close any doors. Coming from a family where education is egalitarian, she cultivated a real passion for the German language. This taste for languages, perceived as structured systems, would prove to be an unexpected asset for the rest of her career path.

Computer language, a language like any other

After starting out in industry and call centers, destiny caught up with her. Tasked with translating the needs of French clients for German developers, she found herself writing specifications. One day, to verify data, she learned how to write computer queries in forty-eight hours. She then realized that code is nothing more than a foreign language with its own grammar. This was the beginning of a twenty-five-year career in digital services.

Collecting victories against doubt

Collecting victories against doubt

Despite her successes, Sophie had to deal with a lack of self-confidence and the famous imposter syndrome for a long time. To move forward, she was able to count on caring managers who supported her. She also developed her own method: carefully noting and keeping every compliment and professional success as wildcards to read again in moments of doubt.

Turning sensitivity into a superpower

For a long time, Sophie thought her empathy was a flaw in the corporate world. A true emotional sponge, she intensely experienced the joys and sorrows of her colleagues. With time and experience, she understood that this sensitivity was actually precious. Today, she offers an attentive ear and essential support to her teams, proving that the human element remains at the heart of technology.

Her job

Her job

At OVHcloud, Sophie is an internal project manager (Continuous Improvement Manager). Her role? Continuously improving the way teams work together. She doesn't code, but she understands the technical side enough to translate it into concrete solutions. She leads meetings, listens to everyone's needs, resolves conflicts, and ensures that projects move forward while respecting budgets and schedules. It's an orchestrator's job that requires a lot of organization, punctuality, and active listening.

Her commitments and values

Sophie is actively committed to the place of women in the digital sector, reminding us that IT is not just for boys. She leads workshops to help respond to sexist remarks and insists on the importance of an equal distribution of the mental load in a relationship. Finally, she commutes by bike to help protect the planet.

Her commitments and values

What Sophie shares:

"There are plenty of things to do in the IT field and you definitely shouldn't tell yourself 'oh no, I'm not going there'."

"You have to be very open and very curious. Ask adults: what is your job? Why do you like it?"
