Charting her own path

Building her path, lighting the way for others

Directed very early towards a short technical track, Noémie refused to let herself be defined by the expectations of others. Thanks to her determination, she became an engineer and today contributes to strategic projects for the energy transition. Convinced that everyone should be able to choose their own path, she is also committed to promoting scientific and technical careers among young women.

Chronological journey

An original passion

An original passion

In middle school, Noémie discovered a unique passion: she loved repairing lamps and building electrical circuits. Yet, nothing predestined her for this. Her parents did not go to college and lived in the countryside. Faced with a guidance counselor who underestimated her potential, she was directed in high school towards a short technological track to learn how to wire electrical cabinets.

After tenth grade, Noémie was directed to the scientific track thanks to her excellent results. However, the gap between the two paths was too wide, and Noémie eventually redirected herself to the electrotechnical track, where she was the only girl in the class. Determined to push her limits, she joined an ATS preparatory class to consolidate her scientific knowledge. Her dedication and perseverance then opened the doors to an engineering school, proving that there are multiple paths to excellence.

With her engineering degree in hand, Noémie joined RTE as a dispatcher, a profession at the heart of the French electrical system. There, she managed electricity flows in real time to guarantee grid balance and power continuity. Eager to better understand all of the company's activities, she then joined the Purchasing department. For 10 years, she developed a cross-functional vision of projects and collaborated with many technical professions, strengthening her ability to coordinate teams and lead complex projects. On a personal level, she became a mother of 3 children.

Finding her place

Breaking the glass ceiling

Finding her place

The call of technology was felt once again. But the return was not easy. After 10 years in Purchasing, and with young children, Noémie had to show perseverance and conviction to secure a position as an Underground Links Study Engineer. An important step that illustrates her ability to reinvent herself throughout her career. This evolution was made possible by an environment that encourages professional mobility and gender equality within her company. Today, Noémie wants to pave the way for younger generations: she is committed to showing young girls that technical careers are just as accessible to them.

Her job

Today, Noémie coordinates essential studies for the creation of new very high voltage electrical infrastructures. She coordinates numerous experts and contributes to the connection of major projects related to the decarbonization of industry, the development of renewable energies, and the digital transformation of the territory. She even has the opportunity to work on projects in the French Overseas Departments and Regions.

Her commitments and values

Noémie's journey shows that no path is set in stone. Thanks to her curiosity, hard work, determination, and resilience, she has built a rich and unique professional career. Her commitment to younger generations reflects a strong conviction: everyone should be able to choose their future without being limited by stereotypes.

Her commitments and values

What Noémie shares:

"In life, you have to dare to take risks; losing years is not a big deal; you have to try what you like, explore different paths, and not hesitate to step off your initial track."

"The best way to change mentalities is to show by example that women fully belong in technical professions."
