Eyes everywhere at the heart of logistics

Eyes everywhere at the heart of logistics

From her desire to study archaeology to international logistics coordination at McCain, Amélie has built a career where her technical curiosity and organizational skills work wonders. An engineer who keeps the wheels turning smoothly.

The engineering of history

Growing up in Lille with two older brothers and an artist mother, Amélie evolved in an environment where no gender barriers were imposed on her. While she was passionate about archaeology, it wasn't for the dates or the kings, but to understand how things worked, like locks in ancient Egypt. With brothers already in engineering school, she naturally gravitated towards a science baccalaureate, driven by this technical and creative curiosity.

A good student in high school, Amélie chose the traditional path of preparatory classes in physics and chemistry. But the shock was harsh: the frantic pace and the demand for perfection led her to burnout. It was during this moment of deep doubt that an occupational psychologist helped her see things more clearly and introduced her to a field she didn't know: logistics. Reassured, she held on, finished her prep school, and joined the ENSTA Paris engineering school.

One profession, a thousand sectors

One profession, a thousand sectors

What makes logistics so strong is that it is essential everywhere. Amélie began her career in the automotive industry, a very male-dominated environment where she made her mark thanks to her technical skills. After nine years and a desire to see something else, she explored cosmetics, spent some time in the nuclear sector, before finding her place in the food industry at McCain. Each time, she adapted to new products and new constraints, proving that with an engineering degree, you never get bored.

Today, Amélie is a real control tower. Her role is to ensure that products leave the factory and reach thousands of customers around the world. To do this, she juggles sales, production, and transport. She speaks English on a daily basis with her colleagues in the Netherlands or Poland, and uses her diplomacy to align everyone's goals. Her superpower? Having eyes everywhere to spot the little detail that could block the entire chain.

Her job

Her job

Logistics coordination is the art of ensuring that the right product arrives at the right place and at the right time. In concrete terms, Amélie analyzes sales to anticipate production needs, organizes transport, and manages unforeseen events. She acts as the link between the sales representatives who want to sell, the factory that produces, and the customers waiting for their orders. It is a facilitator's job that requires being comfortable with numbers and software like Excel, but above all, having excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with international teams.

Her commitments and values

For a long time, Amélie thought her kindness was a flaw. Today, she has turned it into a strength in her cross-functional management: staying calm and benevolent helps to resolve many tense situations. She encourages young people not to put too much pressure on themselves for perfection and to dare to enter fields like engineering or logistics, which offer job security and an incredible diversity of missions.

Her commitments and values

What Amélie shares:

« We are a bit like the conductor between all the departments so that everyone does what is needed at the right time. »

« If I had to do it again, I wouldn't seek perfection the way I did. »

« Logistics is not the same when it's a packet of fries as when it's a locomotive. »
